Janie Killough

August 16, 1930 — March 17, 2022

Janie Killough 91, passed peacefully at home last Thursday March 17th, surrounded by her beloved family after a year long illness. Some of her very last words included professions of her faith in God, Hope for our future and Love for her family. She will be sorely missed!

Janie was preceded in death by her parents Leon & Myrtle Moore, husband Cecil Killough, nephews Byron Moore(Patsy), Brett Moore and niece Denise Moore Sweatman. She is survived by her brother Ronald Joe Moore (Tyra),nephews Ronald Joe(Joey) Moore Jr (Kaye),Bart Moore (Valerie) along with many Great nieces and Great nephews .

Janie was born to Myrtle Evelyn and Joseph Leon Moore in Birmingham Alabama, later migrating to Center Point in the mid 1930's along with her brothers Alvin & Ronald. Janie then grew up here in a humble Christian home based on honesty and hard work.

After elementary school , Janie did what most  kid's from Center Point had to do, and that was transfer to Hewitt Trussville school as Center Point didn’t have a school past elementary . Janie was a good student but also excelled in other school activities as well as her love of the piano.. She was a majorette and also a cheerleader. Janie also had a talent for numbers which led to her lifelong avocation of Accounting and bookkeeping.

Hewitt High School was  where she met the love of her life, her beloved Cecil Edward Killough. Their love for each other was boundless for 50 years.

Janie also had a long and worthwhile business career. After she married Cecil she became executive at Hayes Aircraft. After Hayes she went to work for Marc Levine Investments.  She later became partners with Marc Levine on many investments. She parlayed her investments into a successful business career.

Janie lived a full and benevolent life and was an inspiration and gift to everyone that every met her. She had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. She was an accomplished pianist and had a love for the arts. Janie was a philanphropist and believed charity was best served when it was anonymous and from the heart and she practiced that through out her life.
