Janice Yates

Janice Marie Yates, age 80, of Irondale, AL went home to be with her Savior on October 19th, 2022. Daughter of the late Henry Clay and Katherine Young McNutt, Janice was born July 11th, 1942, in Dalton, Georgia. After moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee early in life, Janice began studying Ballet at the age of eight years old. As a teenager, she had advanced to a level that allowed her to teach Ballet until the mid-twenties. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Jan worked as the financial secretary for McElwain Baptist Church until retiring after thirty years of service.

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by one sister: Patricia McNutt Slayton.

Mrs. Yates is survived by her loving husband, C. Wayne Yates; one daughter, Katherine Rich (Ben); one son, Bill Yates (Lanette); and three grandchildren, Sam and Jack Yates and Will Rich, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Yates will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 24th, 2022, at Hope Community Church. Her family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. A private burial will take place at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL at a later date.

In leu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Hope Community Church missions fund.
