James Michael Sims

James Michael “Mike” Sims, born October 2, 1950 to Bill and Mary Sims, died on June 1, 2026.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Sims, daughter Rachel Sims Bailey (Ethan), granddaughter Thea Bailey, sister Pat Sims Tillman (Tony), nephews Brian Tillman (Tara) and Chad Tillman (Lauren), along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and cherished friends.

Mike had a great love of the outdoors and was able to travel the country for work, leading to a never ending list of stories he loved to tell. Above all, Mike’s greatest love was his family and friends.

He had strong ties to Trussville and had great pride in his roots and his community.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A service honoring his life will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville on Saturday, June 6th, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:00am - 10:00am. The service will start at 10:00am with a graveside ceremony immediately following.
