James Lance Burleson

August 9, 1952 — June 16, 2025

James Lance Burleson, 72, passed away at his home on June 16th, 2025. He was born August 9th, 1952 in Birmingham, AL. He was a member of the Clay church of Christ and served as an elder. He retired from the restaurant equipment industry as a business owner of BerVel in Pinson. He served his country in the Army Reserves for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James T. Burleson and Willie Mae (Howell) Burleson and his sister Carolyn Oursler.

Lance leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Deborah, his daughter Lana Williams (John) and son Ryan Burleson (Kathy). While he loved being a husband and father, he really cherished being a "papa". His grandchildren Gracie, Graycin and Gabriel Williams, Emerson and Alexander Burleson will carry on his legacy of love. He is also survived by his sister, Billie Ann Goolsby (John), several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Having never met a stranger, Lance was always happy to talk about his passion for classic cars. His 1956 Ford F100 and 1953 Ford Schoolie were some of his most prized possessions. He loved attending car shows and was a staple in the car community for many years.

He also was an avid Alabama football fan and was always quick to yell "Roll Tide" to those wearing clothing vaguely resembling Alabama colors.

Lance will be missed by all who knew him. His laughter was infectious and his love never ending. We are thankful his hard fought battle has been won. The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the entire team at Enhabit Hospice for the wonderful care you all provided him.
