James King

James Edward King, age 86 of Ohatchee, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024. He was born July 5, 1937 in Arab, Alabama to Grady and Flossie King. He graduated from Arab High School in 1955. He served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. 

 He worked for Gerber Baby Food Company for 33 years before retiring in 1997.
 
 He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, known affectionately as "Jim Jim" His humble heart and kind nature touched the lives of many. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 43 years, Dean King, and his infant daughter Victoria, sisters Louise Palmer and Dorothy May King.

Left to cherish his memory are, his wife, Mary Streip King, his son Rick King (Beth), daughters Denise Pugh (Gerald) and Angela Self (David). Four Grandchildren, Carmen Booker (Cory), Amber Barton (Spencer), Logan Self and Cole Self. Six Great-Grandchildren, Austin Booker, Dylan Booker, Jaxson Booker, Eden Booker, Bradley Barton and Dolly Barton. His sister, Diane Deerman (Ken) and a host of nieces and nephews. Jim will also be forever and lovingly memorialized by all of Mary's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as he admirably assumed a role in each of their lives that would have otherwise been left unfulfilled.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with a service to follow at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville.
