Jada Strachan Thomas

Jada Terry Strachan Thomas, age 60, of Trafford, Alabama passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025.

She was born on July 29, 1965, in Midfield, Alabama to Harold and Terry Strachan. Jada grew up in the area around Bessemer, residing in Midfield, McCalla, and Green Pond. From early childhood, she was active in church and enjoyed both dance and music.

She received a music scholarship to Birmingham Southern College and later became an accomplished musician and served as pianist at several churches during her adult life. Jada was a soft spoken, kind-hearted person and a devoted wife and mother. Although she struggled with various health issues during her life, she was grounded and sustained by her faith in Christ and by the love of her family.

Jada was preceded in death by her mother, Terry Essman Strachan; her father, Harold Givens Strachan, Jr; and her stepdaughter, Kari Thomas. She is survived by her loving husband, Roger J. Thomas; her sons Tommy Nelson (Keri) and Tanner Nelson; her brothers Gib Strachan (Lois) and Jonny Strachan (Karen); two nephews and three nieces; and two grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be her brothers, Gib Strachan, Jonny Strachan; and her nephews, Adam Strachan, Matthew Strachan, Mason Strachan, John Lott, and Jay Cowan.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, October 24th from 1:00 to 2:00, with funeral services to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jada's memory to the American Heart Association or another appropriate charity.
