On this date 12/13/2025 @ 7:04 am, Irving Fredrick (Fred) Trawick Jr., a beloved husband and father passed away after suffering from flu & pneumonia at 80 years old at Russell Medical Hospital in Alexander City, Alabama. Wife, Mona, and daughter, Stephanie with family had few days before celebrated his 80th birthday with him.

Born in 1945 in Mullins, South Carolina to Jacqueline Byrd and Irving Fredrick Trawick. He is survived by his wife, Mona Trawick of 36 years of marriage, his daughter Stephanie Beecham, husband Jordan Beecham, grandchildren Nova Claire (3 1/2) & Evren (9 months), his sister Diane and husband Scrap Easterly and their two sons along with all their grandchildren.

Fred was a loving Father, Grandfather, and Brother. He was very dedicated to Children’s Hospital where he volunteered for 23 years 3 days a week. He started reading for children but ended up serving most of the time in “Recovery”. His hobby was reading. The books he particularly cared for was “Stephen King” and “James Patterson’s” books. He also loved watching TV series like “Father Brown” and “Midsomer Murders”. Through the years Fred regularly exercised and stayed in shape by joining the gym. He played for years in tennis leagues. He was a very humble, dignified, and a kind man. He enjoyed being with family.

 Fred worked for UAB University of Alabama at Birmingham for 22 years (1977-1999) after his Ph.D at University of Georgia June 1977. He was the Professor & Chair in Department of Marketing, School of Business at UAB. During the time at School of Business he taught basic specific courses in Business Marketing at night. He published several Articles and Book Chapters, Conferences and Proceedings, Organizations, Professional Development and Involvement and Publications Reviewer and Editorial Boards. He was active in the community. He worked at the Crisis Center of Jefferson County. He worked at as a telephone counselor from 1977-1980, outreach team from 1977-1980, trainer from 1978-1979, Chamber of Commerce International Trade Committee from 1978-1979, account executive, National Alliance of Business from 1978-1980, Board of Directors, Alabama Zoological Society (Birmingham Zoo), 1986-1996. President, 1992-1993, 1994. Secretary Executive Committee, 1987-1991 and Secretary of Board, 1986-1991. Fred is a Vietnam Veteran. He was in the U.S. Army as a 2nd and 1st Lt. in 1969-1971. He received honors as a American Marketing Doctoral Consortium Fellow, University of Georgia, 1976, Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi, Omicron Delta Epsilon (OAE) and Sigma lota Epsilon (SIE)

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 19th, 2026 at The Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham AL 35235 (Trussville). @ 11:00 am. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead making a donation to the “Tunnel to Towers Foundation “(T2T.org) (T2T Honoring Heroes)
