Hubert Granville Pair was born in Deans Chapel in Jackson County, AL on August 2, 1931, and passed away on June 28, 2026, at the age of 94 in Birmingham, AL.
Hubert grew up in Henager, AL where he met his wife Laura Elizabeth Bailey Pair in the third grade. Hubert and Elizabeth Pair were married for 58 years. Hubert graduated from high school in Chattanooga, TN. In 1952, Hubert joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War from 1952-1956 as an airplane mechanic. Hubert graduated from Samford University and The University of Montevallo where he obtained degrees in mechanical engineering and Master of Business Administration. Hubert retired from Southern Company Services at the age of 58.
Hubert was a strong man of faith that believed that God, Family, Friends and Country came before all else. Hubert was a deacon and founding member of Hilldale Baptist Church and later maintained his faith at Lakeside Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents Euclid Granville Pair and Lula Mae Teems Pair; wife, Laura Elizabeth Bailey Pair; son, Gary Michael Pair; brothers, Frank Earl Key, James Riley Pair, Vernon Lee Pair, and Euclid LaVaughn Pair; father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence Philmore Bailey and Mary Hall Bailey; and sisters-in-law Bernice Smith Key and Linda Lee Kiker Pair.
Hubert is survived by his daughter, Karen Pair Hale; grandchildren, David Pair (Catherine) and Kala Durawa; two great-granddaughters, Julia and Olivia Pair; siblings, Herman Pair and Dorothy Pair Taylor (Bill); sister-in-law Betty Pair; and his dear friend, Jean Tankersly.
Officiating Hubert’s funeral are Dr. Greg Corbin and Reverend Herman Pair.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial at 2:00 PM with a graveside service immediately following. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Tyler Pair, Kevin Pair, Danny Parker, Keeton Marlowe and Payton Marlow.
