Obituary

Mr. Howard Hugh Davis, 93, of Clay, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026

Mr. Davis graduated from Lanett High School in 1951. He went on to work for Swift Meat Packing Company for 13 years until the company closed its Birmingham location and transferred him to North Carolina. Not finding North Carolina to his liking, he returned to Birmingham, where he began working for Newell Equipment Company. He remained there until his retirement.

Mr. Davis was married to his beloved wife, Judy, for 42 years before her passing. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his dogs and playing cards at the senior center. He cherished the simple pleasures in life and the time spent doing the things he loved.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his father, Homer Davis Sr.; his mother, Mary Edna Davis; his sisters, Anna Sample and JoAnne Hicks; his brother, Homer Q. Davis Jr.; his wife, Judy Davis; his daughter, Debra Kranz; and his grandson, Chase McNeill.

Mr. Davis is survived by his daughter, Teresa Dean; his sister, Martha Stewart; his brother, Charles Davis (Wendy); nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: CJ Boykin, David Dean, Jance Voytanovsky, Mason Rivers-Dean, Parker Voytanovsky, Will Hallowell
