Herbert Lynn Fowler, 88, of Birmingham, Alabama, was called home to his Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, February 10, 2018, after a year-long health struggle. Herbert dearly loved his family and his friends. While traveling all throughout the Southeast Region during his long career in commercial masonry construction, Herbert loved being involved in ministry wherever he was planted. He was humbled to serve on several church boards, serve as usher, superintendent/builder of many production sets, and had a servant's heart to always give his time and resources to others. Herbert's love of Jesus, and devotion to life, will be treasured forever and wants his legacy to live on through those who were honored to know him. Herbert was born March 5, 1929 in Pace, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Catherine Jenkins and Henry Luther Fowler; brothers, Elvin, Bill and James Fowler. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Ruby Yvonne Fowler, and daughter, Barbara Fowler, of Birmingham, Alabama; son, Robert Lynn Fowler (Kathy) of Panama City, Florida; grandchildren, Letitia Nicoll (Eric), Pamela Thompson (Kevin) and Jessica Steele (Austin); great-grandchildren Leah & Hannah Nicoll, Destiny, Ethan, & Nathan Thompson, Gabriel & Jacob Steele; and brother, Melvin Fowler (Nita). Chapel services for his Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 2pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Mark Correll will officiate. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. Tribute forms to donate in his memory can be downloaded at https://www.heart.org/idc/groups/heart-public/@wcm/@tcs/documents/downloadable/ucm_430364.pdf.
