Herbert Black

BLACK, HERBERT O. 85 of Gardendale, passed away on January 27, 2012. Herbert was a retired contractor. He was a Navy Veteran serving with Acorn Company in the South Pacific Campaign during World War II. Herbert was President and CEO of Pinson Valley homebuilders and built primarily throughout the Northeast Alabama area. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothea Black Geverink, Lora Jean Black Arnold and Kenneth Black. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Barbara Anne Rector Black; two daughters, Brenda Anne Black and Deborah Lynne Ridgeway (Al); brothers and sisters, Talmedge Black (Carol), Violet Jane Black Jones (Cal) and Nila Black Ingram; one grandson, Christopher Ryan Bertoli and many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held on Monday, January 30 at 2:00 PM in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
