August 18, 1933 — February 6, 2026

Helen S. Bell of Springville, Alabama passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026 at her home with her daughters by her side at the age of 92.

Born to Johann and Rosa Schoppel in Nurnberg, Germany on August 18, 1933, Helen touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was an active member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and lived a life of great faith and prayer. “God is in control” and “Put it in the hands of the Lord” were among some of her favorite sayings. Helen is survived by her daughters, Charmaine Welch and Charlotte Bell, six grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, John L. Bell M.D.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Trussville on March 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to gather at 10 a.m. to share memories and help celebrate Helen’s life.

Many thanks to the staff at UAB St Vincent’s East 5 North and Lakeside Hospice in Pell City for their loving care and compassion during Helen’s final days.
