Harvey Chitty

October 5, 1936 — October 19, 2022

Harvey Gerald Chitty passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 19th. He was born and raised in Center Point and went to Hewitt Trussville High School. Harvey enlisted in the Navy and served from 1955 to 1959 on the USS English DD-696 and was so proud to have served his country. He was a Boiler Tender and after service was a truck driver that moved cars across the country and then worked at Steel City Crane moving cranes to and from job sites.

He loved vintage cars, especially 1957 Chevys. Restoration was his passion. He loved making old cars look new.

He, most importantly, loved his family and friends. He never met a stranger and was well known and loved.

He is survived by his son, Cole Chitty and wife Kay Chitty, daughter Lisa McCorkle and husband Robert McCorkle, and daughter Alison Chitty and grandchildren G.C., Leah, David, and Dallas and Chad. And 10 great-grandchildren.

Many will miss this sweet, compassionate man.

The family would like to thank Enhabit Home Health and Hospice - Oneonta. The family will be forever grateful for the support and kindness that was given. The compassion and support was just amazing. Thank you just is not enough. You all make a difference.
