Grover William “Bill” Sims, age 77, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a graduate of the University of Alabama. He worked as an aviation pilot with AAA Cooper Transportation for 33 years. An avid football fan, he loved cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He had a deep love of music and found great joy in singing, playing the piano, and performing with a local band. His musical talents and the memories he created through music will be cherished by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Winkler Sims and Lela Mae Sims, and his brother, Robert Arthur Sims.

Bill is survived by his sons, Chris Sims (Lisa) and Blake Sims (Amber Gordon), and daughter Ashley Day. His memory will also be cherished by his six grandchildren, Ryan Sims, Raegyn Sims, Nolan Sims, Aubrey Sims, Aiden Day, and Deaglán Day.

The family will gather at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. Burial will take place immediately following the chapel service.

Bill will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family and friends.
