Geraldine Crooks

Geraldine “Gerry” K. Crooks passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at the age of 93. She was born in Haleyville, Ala., on July 6, 1928, before settling in Birmingham, Ala. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kimbrough; her mother, Exie Jernigan (Curtis); and husband, Jesse M. Crooks. She spent her career working at the Birmingham Police Department and retired from the Jefferson State Community College Security Department. She is survived by her children Robert Crooks (Debbie), Sherri C. Tidwell, and Pamela Garrett. She also is survived by her grandchildren: Craig Wooten, JR Crooks, Brian Crooks (Kirsten), Jessica Tidwell, and Rachel Garrett. She was a longtime attendee of Center Point United Methodist Church. An avid Alabama sports fan, she also loved playing Rook and the piano. She will especially be remembered as loving, generous, and caring. Her most cherished treasure was her family, and she attended every event that she possibly could for her children and grandchildren. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville on March 29th at 9:00 AM with Funeral services to follow at 10:00 AM.
