George Aubrey Odom, 85, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, in Aliceville, Alabama. He was born on March 11, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama.
George dedicated his life to his family, his faith, and the profession he loved. A barber and hairstylist for more than 60 years, he began cutting hair at just 14 years old. His talent, warm personality, and genuine care for others earned him generations of loyal clients, many of whom remained with him throughout their lives.
After owning and operating his own salon for decades, George became well known not only for his skill behind the chair but also for helping shape the profession itself. He was instrumental in petitioning the barber college to allow men to become licensed to style women’s hair, helping open new opportunities for future generations of barbers and hairstylists.
George will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, his friendly conversations, and the countless lives he touched through both his work and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Odom; his daughter, Kim Odom; and his sons, Keith Odom, Sean DeNard, and Jeremy DeNard, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Odom; his brother, Butch Odom; and his sisters, Elizabeth Vest and Regina Faulkner.
Funeral services will be officiated by Thomas Roberts, with special music provided by vocalist Virginia Carlisle.
The family will receive friends during visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m.
George’s legacy will live on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the thousands of people who were fortunate enough to know him through a lifetime of service, friendship, and compassion.
