In loving memory of:

George Linton Martin, Jr.

95 years old from Tiger, Georgia

Lynn (as he was commonly known) passed away on Friday, June 19th, 2026. He died peacefully in his sleep.

Lynn was born on November 12th, 1930 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was the first-born child of George Linton Martin Sr. (a Barber by profession) and Clemmie Lee Schrader (a schoolteacher). He also had an additional 4 brothers and sisters: Margaret Sue, Julia, Forrest and Bennie. His youngest brother Bennie was tragically killed in an auto accident.

After high school, Lynn enrolled in the Army on June 5, 1951 and was later shipped off from Seattle Washington to be in the Korean War. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on February 5, 1953. After several months of being "state side" as he would say, he and several buddies were watching some girls playing basketball. One of those girls was to be his wife - Joann Hess. After seven short weeks of courtship, they eloped to Columbus, Mississippi and they were married on August 1, 1953. They moved into a home he had purchased in Birmingham, Alabama.

In 1955, his beloved wife gave birth to a baby boy: George Linton Martin III and in 1960, a daughter Elizabeth Ann. In 1964, he was offered a transfer through the company he was working at - Ingersoll Rand. He took that transfer and moved his family to Georgia. Lynn worked until 1982 as an inside sales/parts specialist with Ingersoll Rand before taking medical retirement at 52 years of age. Lynn was a master of woodwork! He could make anything out of a piece of wood! Lynn also loved to be outside in his yard picking up sticks and had a green thumb with so many different plants. Lynn also loved a train set of any kind. The only stipulation was the engine had to smoke! Lynn and Joann spent most of their married life in Georgia. Tragically, their son George L Martin III died in 2007. Lynn had a close walk daily with Jesus-Joann saw to that! They loved their church family and were solid church members always willing to lend a hand to all!

Lynn is survived by his daughter, Ann Floyd and her husband Robin of Dillard, Georgia. His daughter-in-law, Sheryl Martin of Cordova, Alabama.

His grandchildren, Marie Martin of Sumiton, Alabama, Adam Martin of Calhoun, Georgia, Chad Floyd of Loganville, Georgia and Dustin Floyd of Madison, Georgia.

His great grandchildren, William Martin, Samuel Martin, David Martin, Levi Martin, Hailey Floyd, Jackson Floyd, Linley Floyd, Cooper Floyd and Griffin Floyd.

His siblings, Julia Jones of Springville, Alabama and Forrest Martin of Huntsville, Alabama.

His grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pall bearers.

Memorial donations can be made in George's name to Church at the Grove. The address is 1050 Walnut Grove Parkway, Loganville, Georgia 30052.
