Gary Tapscott

Gary R. Tapscott, 66, of Pelham, Alabama passed away peacefully at his home on September 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He attended Huffman High School, graduating in 1976. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family, friends, dogs, and Auburn more than anything and cherished his time with all. He enjoyed spending his time at the lake with family and friends; along with sitting on the porch cherishing the day. Gary worked for the Hilton Downtown UAB, where he was the Chief Engineer, until his illness retired him early.,

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. Tapscott and Gracie Lynn Tapscott; along with his daughter Meaghan Tapscott and his sister Paula Tapscott Rogers, mother-in-law Peggy C. Hopper and father-in-law, Lewis Winston Hopper both of Hazard, KY.

He is survived by his loving wife Renee Deason, his children, step-son Josh Deason (Nikayla Goodrich), step-daughter Makenzie Black (Hunter), grandchildren Chloe and Caroline Deason and Beckham Black. His sister Peggy L. Dye (Jim Dempsey), sister Beth Romano (Claude), brother Greg Tapscott (Sharon) and sister-in-law Robin Howard, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that he adored.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Jefferson Memorial Trussville, AL., from 11:00am to 12:00pm with services being held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with a lunch to follow at the Tutwiler Hotel. His good friend, Judge Tommy A. French will be officiating.
