Freddie Busby

January 26, 1956 — November 27, 2024

Freddie "Larry" Busby, also known as Pepaw, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife, family, and friends on November 27, 2024 in Trussville, Alabama, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was the loving and devoted husband to Rebecca "Becky" Braswell Busby for 48 wonderful years.

Larry was born on January 26, 1956, in Birmingham, Alabama and raised by his loving parents, Eddie and Mary George Blevins. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1974. He was employed at AT&T and worked as a Field Technician for 27 years, until his retirement.

He was a member of Clearbranch Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, and mostly, large social gatherings with his family and friends that included lots of laughter and love. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, his darling, who he met in church as a young child. Larry and Becky built a beautiful life, having 2 sons and 6 grandchildren, and cared for both his (Eddie and Mary George Blevins) and Becky's parents (Buford and Virginia Braswell) toward the end of their lives. Larry was a devoted husband and father, who exuded positivity, love, and humor, particularly to those who knew him well. Anyone who knew Larry, knew he was full of life and always saw the good in everything and everyone. His warm smile, genuine care for others, and relentless faith was admirable. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Becky Braswell Busby, son Brian Busby (Brittany), daughter-in-law Barbie Busby, and grandchildren Ethan Busby, Emma Busby, Eli Busby, Easton Busby, Taylor Busby, and Emmett Busby. Additionally, he is survived by his loving sister-in-law, Cary Sue Calhoun, and special brother-in-law, Kenny Calhoun, lifelong friends, Don and Rhonda Martin.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brad "Birdman" Busby; parents, Eddie and Mary George Blevins; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Larry was the last sibling to meet our Heavenly Father.
