Estelle Teal

Estelle "Tootsie" Teal, age 90, journeyed home on July 23, 2016. She was a loving member of Five Mile Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class at Huffman United Methodist Church. She is often remembered serving her Lord and others as a kindergarten teacher, Girl Scout leader, and team mom in the Inglenook community. She also served as a longtime volunteer with the Saint Vincent's East Hospital Auxiliary. Tootsie was an avid and faithful Bama fan. She is preceded in death by her husband John Daniel "J D" Teal Sr., her daughter Mary Sue Teal, and her brother William Brake. She is survived by her brother, James E. "Red" Brake, daughter, Polly Teal Shields (James W. Jr.) her son, John Daniel Teal Jr. (Natarshia), her grandson, James W. "Jamie" Shields III (Crystal) and step grandson Justin McGhee.

Funeral service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 27th with visitation beginning at 9am followed by the funeral at 10am, with Pastor Sharon Eich will be officiating. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Five Mile Presbyterian Church, 1132 Five Mile Road, Birmingham AL 35215.
