Glenn passed away on March 2, 2026 at the age of 91 . He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on February 2, 1935 to Emory Glenn Hicks Sr and Mary Thelma Ray Hicks. He grew up in Birmingham in the ACIPCO community and was a member of ACIPCO Baptist Church. He attended John J. Eagan Elementary, and John Herbert Phillips High School. While at Phillips High School, he was an honor student and was involved in many activities, serving as President of both the Student Body and National Honor Society as well as “Mr. Phillipian”. After high school, he attended Georgia Tech, graduating with a degree in Industrial Management. He had many job offers, but chose to move back to Birmingham to be close to family. He went to work for American Cast Iron Pipe Company and was employed there for over 40 years. He began his work career in the Industrial Engineering Department and later spent many years in the Human Resources Division, retiring as Manager of Employee Relations and Communications. He was involved in many organizations, including the National Management Association, Birmingham Society for Human Resource Management, as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the Association for Retarded Citizens. He also was a member of the Self Help for Hard of Hearing Association, where he served as President.

In 1956, Glenn married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Turner Hicks, and they were married almost 60 years, until her death in 2016. They enjoyed many years with friends from Georgia Tech, camping and spending time together. They were also active in Huffman Baptist Church, where Glenn served in many various roles, including choir and deacon. It was also here where they formed a supper club of life-long friends. In 1961, Steven Glenn Hicks was born and Julie Ann Hicks was born in 1964.

His military service was through the Alabama Air National Guard. He was activated in 1961, during the Berlin Crisis and spent a year in France.

In 2017, he married Linda Foster. Glenn and Steve then joined First Baptist Church of Trussville. They made many friends and enjoyed the worship experience there being involved in their small group classes and senior adult activities. .

Glenn is survived by his wife Linda Foster Hicks, son Steve Hicks and daughter Julie Hicks Smith and son-in law Bart Smith, two grandchildren Aubrey Pierson (Chris) and Alex Smith (Megan). Also, he is survived by his 5 great grandchildren; Charlotte Joann Pierson, Turner Clyde Pierson, Everett Thomas Smith, Carson Alexander Smith and Emory Lynn Pierson. He is also survived by his stepson, Mark Foster (Jennifer) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be Friday, March 6, 2026 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Trussville. Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm. Pastor Buddy Champion will preside. A private burial will be held in Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.

The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration Hospital for continuous care, as well as Aveanna Hospice.
