Obituary

Emma Cathryne “Cookie” Cook Williams was born on September 14, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama and because of her faith in Jesus she entered heaven on July 8, 2026. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1956 and attended Auburn University. She married Edward Thomas Williams in November 1962. She worked for retail department stores and later was a cashier at Mt Brook High School lunch room where she retired in 2008. Everyone she came in contact with knew how much she loved people and they also experienced her great sense of humor and wit - she always made you laugh. She also had a love for ice cream and in her later years that became what she ate for dinner. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she always said she should have had them first. She was a member of Northpark Baptist Church (formerly Roebuck Park Baptist Church) for 60 years and for many years taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Eddie” Williams; father, Junius A Cook; mother, Eloise Smith Cook; brothers, Charles Edward Cook, Junius A Cook and sister, Patricia “Pat” Wesley.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Williams and daughters, Jodie (Dr Robert “Bobby” McClung) Hill and Julie Mahaffey. Grandchildren, Tiffany Mahaffey, Crystal Mahaffey, Dylan Williams, Ethan (LaShay) Williams, Brooke Hill and Baylee (Ben) Nelson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Wesley and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be Wednesday, July 15 at 12:00 noon; Jefferson Memorial Gardens Trussville, AL. Rev Brandon Smith officiating.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to a charity of your choice and/or eat a bowl of ice cream in her memory.
