Emily McCluskey Moler, a native of Birmingham, died on July 16, 2026, after a brief illness, at 89 years of age.
She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Bernard G. Moler, her parents, Allen & Nola McCluskey, and her twin brother, David McCluskey. She is survived by her sons, David (Teresa) Moler in Atlanta, GA, and Art (Becca) Moler in Sterrett AL, also 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sister Cathey Shaw, and 1 nephew and 2 nieces.
Emily graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1954, attended Manatee Jr. College of Bradenton, FL. She was an executive secretary, personnel secretary and medical secretary at companies in Birmingham, and retired as Asst. Director of the Municipal Auditorium in Bradenton, FL, where she lived for 15 years until moving back to Alabama in 1995.
She loved learning new things by reading and traveling. Emily had a library of over 3,000 non-fiction books and traveled to 50 foreign countries and all 50 states. She and her husband also enjoyed animals and nature. Before his death in 2002, they had Ember Kennels and showed dogs in dog shows.
In years past she was the editor of the Birmingham Zoo’s “Animal Tracks” publication, was active in United Daughters of the Confederacy, National Secretaries Assn., Executive Secretaries International, Business & Professional Women, and several genealogical societies.
She grew up in Ruhama Baptist Church in East Lake. A celebration if life will be at graveside in Jefferson memorial Gardens East on October 10, 2026 at 12:00 pm.
