David Grissom

Graveside Services for Mr. David Grissom, age 64 of Birmingham, will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Smith officiating.

David passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital. Born in Birmingham, he was a lifelong resident of Alabama. Around 2010, Positively Funny came about and David enjoyed spending time there, as well at Virginia Sanford Theater. The group did team-building workshops all over the state. He did this even in the past few years. For most of his life, David enjoyed being an Improv Comedian. He had weekly shows at The Barking Kudo, The Rare Martini, The Winfrey, Star Dome and The Improv Theater. Under Positively Funny, there was Perform for a Purpose; David enjoyed participating with them and this was used for a non-profit and was geared toward anti-bullying. David also had a prison ministry. He wrote several inmates over the years, trying to encourage them and send them things. David was a loving brother, uncle and friend that will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his sister, Karen Love (David), his brother, Bill Grissom (Terry), his niece, Jessica Fortenberry (Scott), his nephews, Matthew Grissom (Kayde) and Alex Love, along with a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. Grissom, Sr. and Norma J. Grissom, his grandparents, George M. Grissom and Pearl Grissom, Elmer and Lillian Countiss.
