Funeral services will be Saturday, June 8th, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home for Dwight Ray Glidewell, age 63, of Moody, AL, who passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024. Bro. Larry Smith will officiate. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Arrangements under the direction of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens.
Dwight is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from Banks High School in 1979, where he was a member of the fraternity, Delta Epsilon. He then went to work for Compass Bank of Birmingham, Alabama. Compass Bank became BBVA and recently PNC. Altogether, Dwight worked forty years in the banking industry. During that time he graduated with honors with a business degree from Jefferson State Community College. In his younger days, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He is also an Eagle Scout and a member of Tide Pride. Out of the forty two years of his marriage, Dwight probably only missed four home Alabama football games. He absolutely loved college football. Dwight was a very kind person with a great sense of humor. He was often referred to as a gentle giant, being 6'5" in height. He loved all animals and would bring home kittens in need of a good home. Dwight will be missed by all those who were blessed to know him, especially his wife and family. Roll Tide, sweetheart!
survivors include the love of his life of 42 years, Tamera "Tammy" Cullifer Glidewell; his mother, Frances E. Glidewell; aunt, Nelda Glidewell; brothers, Daryl (Karen) Glidewell; Dean Glidewell; half sister, Sharon (Kenny) Glidewell; niece, Stephanie Scelsi; father in law, Marshall Cullifer Sr.; sister in law, Christy (David Sr.) Freels; nephew, David (Qing) Freels Jr.; brothers in law, Bill Cullifer, Jr., Wilson Cullifer, Jon David and Michael Cullifer-May; nephew, Trey Cullifer; uncle, Alan Cullifer; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ray J. Glidewell; uncle, Earl Barker, mother in law, Pamela Bussey Cullifer; uncle, Buddy Bussey; half brother, Terry Glidewell; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Glidwell, Dean Glidewell, Bill Cullifer, Jon David Cullifer, David Freels Sr., David Freels Jr., Buddy Bussey, Terry Bussey, and Perry Bussey.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
