David Earl Lybrand , age 77 of Trussville, Alabama went home to meet his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2025. He was a 1967 graduate of Albertville High School. In high school he discovered his love of music and met his high school sweetheart, Martha. They married shortly after high school. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman.
After the Army, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama and worked at Stockham Valves and Fittings as an industrial engineer. He then became an educator in the Birmingham City School System.
David loved talking about his life adventures, bluegrass music, playing the banjo and his family (especially his grandchildren). He was a member of the Deerfoot Church of Christ.
David was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Lybrand. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Martha, and two sons, Jason (Ashley) and Jon Lybrand; two sisters, Judy (Steve) Howell and Kathy (Troy) Horton; six grandchildren, Carter, Parker, Blair and Madison Lybrand, Kennedy Chambers, and Ryleigh (Elijah) Leonard.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with visitation an hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Carter Lybrand, Parker Lybrand, Brad Anderson, Skip Anderson, Elijah Leonard and Richard Harp.
