Charles N. Hughes, Jr.

March 4, 1935 — February 21, 2026

Charles Noble Hughes, Jr., age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 21, 2026 after a long battle with dementia. He owned his own carpet business for over 40 years and retired in 2000. He was very active in his church and spent many a summer traveling with the Centercrest Youth Choir.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Noble Hughes, Sr. and Olive Francis (Joiner) Hughes; by his wife of 58 years, Mary Sue (Grill) Hughes; his son-in-law, Cliff Prosser; and his grandson, Jonathon Shane Phillips.

He is survived by his daughters, Tina Hughes Prosser and Vicki Hughes Phillips (John), and son, Charles “Buddy” Noble Hughes III (Sylvie); grandchildren Eric Phillips (Natacha), Mary Prosser, Alexianne Hughes, and Thomas Hughes; as well as his three great-grandchildren, Maggie Phillips, Charlee Kate Phillips, and Mayer Phillips.

Funeral services will be March 2nd at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville

Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 with service immediately following
