Charles Hall

Charles Kelly Hall was born January 25, 1930, in Lansing, Michigan. He died the morning of December 25th, with Faye Hall his wife of 50 years at his bedside at their home in Pell City, Alabama. He was 93 years of age.

Chuck, as most people called him, was active in his Church and his community. He served as Junior Warden at St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church in Pell City. He was a member of Habitat of Humanity and the Christian Love Pantry.

He was preceded in death by his Step Sister Renee Philippe and her son Mike LeButt, mother Estelle Hall, Father Edgar Hall, Sister Marie (Chuck Bernard) Hall, brother Benjamin Hall, sister Ann Hall, son Ty Hall, Step son Wayne Reeves, Brother in law Elmer Quick, Mother in law Clara Quick and Great-great granddaughter Juniper Clarmont.

His surviving family is: Wife Faye Hall, Daughter Vicki Scaramuzzo Jr., step son Fred (Kim) Reeves, daughter in law Michelle Reeves, brother in law Joe (Gail) Quick, sister in law Sue Jenkins, sister in law Beth Hall.

After Chucks marriage to Faye Quick Hall they joined two families together and their blessings grew in numbers.

Together they have nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Steve) Farkas, Robert (Erik Kummer) Dow, Stephen (Ashley) Dow, Brian (Amy) Dow, Chris (Chelsea) Reeves, Mike Reeves, Justin (Lauren) Reeves, Holly Reeves and Hannah Reeves.

Twelve great grandchildren, Anthony (Liv Betan-Court) Dow, Drew (Hailey Mistretha) Dow, Hailey (Maya Claremont) Dow, Alia (Martin Spencer) Dow, Giovanna Dow, Emma Dow, Lydia Dow, Justin Dow, Mason Dow, Elizabeth Reeves, Maggie Reeves and Amelia Reeves. Two Great-great grandchildren Cedar Clarmont and Cypress Clarmont.

Chuck graduated high school from St. Mary Cathedral in Michigan. He also graduated from The University of Alabama Birmingham with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

In Chucks lifetime, he has had two careers. He was proud to be in the Navy and lived by their motto: Honor, Courage and Commitment. He spent several years on the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. The last two years of his military career he was an Instructor in Aviation Fire Control Class "A" at the Naval Air Technical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. He never mentioned any of his missions that he participated in during his tours overseas. The award, commendations and medals must speak for themselves. Chuck received the following: Distinguished Flying Cross, Four Air Medals, two Armed Forces Expeditionary for service in Formosa and Vietnam, six Good Conduct Medals, China Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation and two National Defense Service Medals. He was proud of the Commendation he received as "Top Gun". He displayed the photos of the planes and the plaque he received . The Commander Naval Air Force, Pacific Fleet, and the Commander in Chief, North American Air Defense Command Commended Charles Hall and his squadron for victory as "Top Gun" in 1959 Naval Air Weapons Meet in the Air-to- Air all Weather competition in Yuma, Arizona.

In 1971 Chuck Hall started his second career at The University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. His job was Technical Service Director of Anesthesia Services and Labs. He met Faye Quick Rider at the University Hospital and they were married November 25, 1973. Shortly after their marriage he adopted Ty Hall. He was committed to his job and served professionally. Chuck retired from the University Hospital in 1991.

His Memorial Service will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 13, 2024 at, St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church, 3702 Mays Bend Road, Pell City, Al 35128.

At 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 there will be a short Military Service graveside at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 1591 Gadsden Highway, Birmingham, Alabama 35235.
