Cecil Hughes

Cecil Michael "Mike" Hughes, 69, of Pell City, died Friday, March 24, 2017, after a long battle with prostate cancer. Mr. Hughes was born March 23, 1948, in Birmingham to Cecil and Louise Hughes. He worked as a firefighter and paramedic for the City of Birmingham. He retired as a lieutenant after twenty years. He retired from the City of Pleasant Grove fire department after twenty two years. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his wife: Linda Hughes; daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and April Collins; two grandchildren: Erin and Jackson Collins; sisters and brother-in-law: Cheryl H. Jones, Denise and Buddy Cockrell. Visitation will be held Monday, March 27, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. A graveside service will be held immediately afterward at 1:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation at www.pcf.org.
