It is with both sorrow and a profound sense of appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Carolyn "Joyce" Weems, who went to her heavenly home to be with the Lord on August 27, 2026. Born November 3, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama, Joyce was a beacon of love and faith throughout her 93 years. Joyce was the beloved daughter of Katheryne and Aaron Morris. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, her eight sisters and one brother, her devoted husband of 47 years, Lawrence Dee Weems, Sr., her son, Lawrence Dee Weems, Jr., and her granddaughter, Lariann Weems. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Katheryne Holcomb, and son-in-law Jerome, as well as her grandchildren: Donelis Howard, Tammy Patterson (Ricky), Kerri Davis (Brett), and Lauren Weems. Joyce's joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren: Chase Howard, Kennedy Davis, Gracie Patterson, Alexys Howard, Brock Howard, Sawyer Patterson, and Adriana Weems-Rogue, and her great-great-grandchild, Reese Howard. Additionally, Joyce leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Known affectionately as "MeiMei" to her friends and family, Joyce devoted her life to serving the Lord with an unwavering faith. She was blessed with the gift of music, which she generously used to minister and bring comfort to others. Joyce's dedication to her faith was evident in her long tenure as a Sunday School teacher and her constant prayers and care for others. Her selflessness and independence were hallmarks of her character, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. A proud American, Joyce also found joy in cheering for her beloved Alabama football team. Her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, and her absence leaves a void in the hearts of many. A graveside service to honor Joyce's life will be held at Jefferson Memorial Gardens 1591 Gadsden Hwy. Birmingham, AL 35235; where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable journey. As we remember Carolyn Joyce Weems, we do so with gratitude for the love she shared and the lives she enriched. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her, and her legacy of faith and kindness will be cherished forever.
