Butch Finley

Butch Finley, age 74 of Moody, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. He was born on July 23, 1952, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Butch grew up on Inglenook, just outside of Birmingham, He was a graduate of Tarrant High School. After high school, he attended the University of Montevallo briefly before moving on to work at Winn Dixie. He managed several stores in his 17 years with the company. In 1984 he started his career in electrical distribution at Mayer Electric. Throughout his time at Mayer he worked in supervisory roles in the warehouse before moving into sales. He co-founded Cahaba Sales Group, a manufacturer representative agency in the electrical industry based in Birmingham in 2003. He truly enjoyed his job, meeting & interacting with people every day. He retired at the end of 2022. He coached his kid’s youth baseball, football & basketball teams over the years. After the kids got older, he umpired T-ball at Center Point Ballpark for many years. Butch was full of life and always brought happiness when he entered a room. He touched the lives of countless people with his inspiration & positive attitude.

Butch is survived by his wife, Tanna Griggs- Finley; Sons, Brent Finley (Kelly); Donovan Finley (Kerryn); Daughter, Alison Finley; grandchildren, Dylan Finley; Raegan Finley; Kailey Gorman; Kaylen Finley; Christopher M. Finley; Step-sons, Brock Griggs (Michelle), Blake Griggs; step granddaughters, Tavia Griggs; Rachel Amari; Ashlee Foust (Tyler); step-great granddaughters, Veronica Amari; Abigail Amari; Madison; Emma Foust; Ellie Foust.

Butch is Preceded in death by his father, Christopher C. Finley; mother, Ruth Finley; son, Christopher D. Finley.

Pallbearers will be: Brent Finley, Donovan Finley, Blake Griggs, Zach Finley, Dathan Finley, Dylan Finley, Christopher M. Finley, and Colyn Finley.

Officiating will be : Dr. Brad Moseley
