Brenda was born on March 8, 1956 at Norwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama on her mother's birthday. She was placed in the arms of her loving parents, Martha Joan Yarbrough and Jack McCoy Yarbrough. The most precious gift for her family.
Brenda passed away on August 6, 2025 at 69 years old and joined her father Jack McCoy Yarbrough in heaven. She is survived by her mother, Martha Joan Yarbrough, and her brother, Ronnie Lynn Yarbrough and his wife Angie. She is survived by her two children, Melissa Parrish Fierstine, her husband Casey Fierstine, her grandson, Woodrow James Fierstine and her son, Jeffrey Neil Parrish. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Sharbett Kaye Yarbrough Burkett, Ronnie Lynn Yarbrough II, April Lynn Yarbrough Jarman, her husband Michael Jarman, and Jason Matthew Yarbrough and all of her great nieces and nephews. All whom she loved dearly.
Brenda graduated from Banks High School in 1974 where she was known for her kindness, humor, love of fun and adventure and her red 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback. This love of adventure and the open road led her to eventually fulfill a dream of buying her own Harley Davidson, and she loved going on long rides alongside her brother Ronnie.
Brenda was a loving mother and nana to her children and grandson. She was always the first one to sign up as a chaperone for any field trip, room mom opportunity or dance leader. She loved surprising her children the most and often it was a gift of a beloved pet. She loved to travel and has a t-shirt and hat collection to prove it. She loved beach trips with her son and his friends, trips to the mountains with her daughter and her friends and more recently taking her grandson Woody to Disney World for the first time in 2022. She was so proud to be a nana and her bond with her grandson will never waiver.
Brenda was a warrior, she battled breast cancer, colon cancer, two open heart surgeries, 2 spinal fusions and multiple other surgeries. She never let these instances diminish her spirit. She loved music, dancing, riding to the state line for lotto tickets, watching Alabama football at her son's house, playing the slots at the casino and had a slight obsession with Barq's Root Beer. She was always there for anyone in need.
No words can really capture our family's loss, nor tell how much we love her. We will always LOVE you more, a daughter, a mother, a nana, an aunt, and a friend.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Make-A-Wish Alabama, it is a cause near and dear to her heart.
