Billie Jane Smith of Irondale, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 29, 2020. She is survived by her loving husband, Billie Ray Smith Jr., daughters Amber Bates, Sarah Smith, and Abigail Smith, and son Colby Michael Burns, grandchildren Lydia Smith, Alex Hill, Finnick Bates, and Willow Bates, sisters Elizabeth Brown Hughey, Cindy Brown Barber, nephews Eric Frost, Danny Morgan, Eric Smith, and Daryl Motes, and nieces Amanda Frost, Denene Maysonet, Bobbie Cooper, and great niece Kinsley Smith, and Aunt Lucy Motes. She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy Brown, stepdad Bill Brown, and father Forest Motes and by her grand-parents Gladys and Doiley Suits and Mack and Lydia Brown. She is also preceded in death by her sister Bettye Morgan and her brother Jerry Motes. Billie Jane worked at Jasper High School as a teacher and she was a former volunteer fire fighter and EMT Cave Rescue. She has her bachelor’s degree from A & M, Master’s from West AL, as well as her educational specialist certification from West AL. Services will be held at Irondale Methodist Church with a visitation 1 to 2 P.M. and a service to follow at 2 P.M. There will be procession to the Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Spark Kindness Club at Jasper High School.
