Bettye Thompson

April 8, 1939 — September 19, 2020

Bettye Joyce Taylor Thompson, 81, passed away September 19th 2020 in the home of her loving daughter and caregiver in Atlanta Georgia. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Memorial, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham this Monday September 28th 12-1pm.  Followed by a graveside service at 1 PM. Mrs. Thompson was born on April 8th, 1939 in Birmingham Alabama to Beatrice and George Taylor. Mrs. Thompson was married to Charles Thompson on June 16th 1956 and the two were married for 50 years. They raised two children together. Mrs. Thompson spent many years as an adoring wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker while working part time as secretary for her husband’s business, JE Brent Painting Company. Mrs. Thompson was most devoted to her role as caretaker. She dutifully cared for her parents, husband, children, grandchildren, neighbors, family, friends, and countless vulnerable and abandoned animals. Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thompson. Her father, George Taylor. Her mother, Beatrice Taylor. Her brother, Donald Taylor. And her most precious German Shepard, Love. And countless other dogs, cats, and small creatures she held near to her heart. Bettye is survived by her daughter Cindy (Steve) Visser, and her son, Jeff (Tami) Thompson. Three grandchildren; Travis (Meghan) Owen, Heather (Jonathan) Owen, and Jessica (Scott) Thompson. The family would like to thank Michelle Russell for the generous care she provided Mrs. Thompson.
