Betty Jean Dudley Hardy, born in Birmingham, AL on November 21, 1941, peacefully entered the presence of her Heavenly Father on June 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernis and Willetta Dudley, her sister Judy Dudley Towery and her brother Leon Dudley.


To know Betty Jean was to know genuine warmth. She had a beautiful smile that welcomed everyone, a loving heart that made people feel at home, and a sweet spirit that left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.


Above all else, Betty Jean treasured her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from loving and supporting her children. She was not only a mother, but also a lifelong best friend, faithful encourager, trusted confidante, and loyal companion.


Betty Jean is survived by her daughters Kim Harville (Steve) of Gulf Shores, AL, Kelly Hardy (Sherry Pruett) of Leeds, AL, her son Brannan Hardy (Lea Anne) of Trussville, AL, her grandchildren Nora Hardy and Anders Hardy of Trussville, AL, and her niece Cindy Goode (Wayne) of Lincoln, AL.


Betty Jean was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and began a 34 year career with Bellsouth following graduation in 1959. In retirement she continued to serve the Birmingham community through her volunteer work with the Telephone Pioneers of America.


The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Trussville followed by burial at Jefferson Memorial’s adjoining gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
