Betty Dawson

Funeral Services for Mrs. Betty Dawson, age 86 of Birmingham, will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining gardens.

Betty passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at her home. Born in Limestone County, Betty was employed as a Job Control Specialist and had an amazing professional career while working for AmSouth Bank and Wells Fargo. She lived a very active life and won multiple awards and trophies in Golfing, Trap Shooting and Bowling. She also enjoyed shopping and playing games with family and friends. She was a skilled Poker Player and won several Poker Championships. She was an awesome competitor and would not simply allow you to win, whether child or adult. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Betty was a member of Southern Skeet and Trap, various Bowling Leagues and the Grayson Valley Country Club. She will be loved and missed by her family, friends and many others.

She is survived by her daughters, Mariann Neal and Suzy Chesser (Craig), her son-in-law, Eddie Irey, her grandchildren, Brannon Neal (Karri), Kenny Irey (Angie), Christy Hunter (Randall), Kelly McCombs (Chris), Kaity Cornwell (Brandon), Casey Falgout (Halen), Clancy Cleveland (Connor), Clayton Irey (Savannah) and Tristan Blackburn, nine great-grandchildren and her sister, Jean Dawes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dawson, her daughter, Kathy Irey, her parents, Edward Hawkins Vinson and Jewel Vinson, and her brothers, John Vinson and Bill Vinson.

Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. until service time at 10:00 A.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.
