Barbara Ann Franklin Smith was the living example of SOS. She was born in Birmingham, Al. She attended Kennedy Elementary, Woodlawn High School and graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School. She retired from the University Of Alabama School Of Medicine (Dept. of Pediatrics). After retirement she worked part-time at New South Federal Bank for 15 years. Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roy Eugene Smith; father Van B. "Buck" Franklin, mother Carrie Segers Franklin, sister Elizabeth Franklin Doney and brother Robert "Bubba" S. Franklin. She is survived by her son Robert "Bobby" "Bob" Van Smith (Renee); granddaughter Anne Franklin Smith; grandsons Parker Berte Smith and Chris Harper (Jennifer); great-grandaughters Kennedy Jayne Harper and Brynn Elizabeth Harper; sister-in-law June Franklin; nieces: Tracy Isbell (Tony), Heather Renfroe (Jeremey), Marie McComhs, Debbie Hunt (Darrell), Cynthia Bradshaw (Elliott); nephews Jody Franklin (Terrie), Michael Smith (Cynthia), Mark Smith (Trish). Pallbearers: Tommy Saffles, Parker Smith, Gary Little, Jody Franklin, Keith Franklin, Austin Isbell, Tony Isbell, and James "Bubby" Lewis. Visitation will be Monday February 19, 2018 from 1pm-2pm. Funeral service will follow Monday February 19, 2018 at 2 pm at Jefferson Memorial in Trussville, with Father Ed Robinson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
