Barbara M Goodman, 87, of Gulf Shores, Alabama passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026 in Oxford, Alabama.

She was born on August 11th, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama to Cephas and Ada McCay, the last of 8 children. She was a cherished daughter who was doted on by both parents and her older sisters.

Barbara was Momma to Allen, David and Kellie, Grandmother to Brack, Mollie, Richard, and Chase and Gigi to Rileigh, Ariana, Andrew, and Sebastian.Throughout her life she was known for her kindness, strength, generosity, and sense of humor. She found great joy in music, going to the movies, traveling, and Alabama Football. But none compared to the love, joy, and pride she took in her family. Her love, wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support created memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Allen Brackner (Tracy) of Riverview, Florida, son David Brackner (Mandy) of Oxford, Alabama. Grandchildren Brack Brackner (Betty) of Riverview, Florida, Mollie Mackinaw of Birmingham, Alabama, Richard Brackner of Pensacola, Florida and Chase Brackner (Sarah) of Waldorf, Maryland. Great Grandchildren Rileigh and Andrew Brackner of Riverview, Florida and Ariana and Sebastian Mackinaw of Birmingham, Alabama. And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and others who will miss her as well.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cephas and Ada Trucks, siblings Alton McCay, Clarence McCay, Louise Waldrop, Ethel Higginbotham, Mildred Higginbotham, Jean Burris, and Edna Smith, father of her children, Brack Brackner, loving husband Clifford Goodman, daughter Kellie Mackinaw, and grandson Michael Mackinaw.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday September 1st at 10:00a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all that have offered their love, support, prayers and kindness over the last several months and would also like to thank the people at Enhabit Hospice for their invaluable service.

Her love was a gift, her memory a treasure, and she will forever remain in our hearts.
