Barbara Marlin Woods Dameron, age 85, passed away on Thursday, May 28th, 2026. Barbara was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 15, 1940 to Levert and Nadine Marlin. She attended Inglenook School and graduated from Tarrant High School in 1959 where she was a majorette in the Tarrant Marching Band. She was a member of the Boyles Baptist Church in Tarrant and accepted Christ at a young age. Later as an adult she worked in the church nursery. After graduating high school, she married Billy Ray Woods. They had one daughter, Kathy and one son, Billy Ray II. She began her career at the Social Security Administration soon after marrying and retired in 1995 with 25 years service. She lived in Roebuck for over 20 years and them Palmerdale until moving to Ragland, Alabama on the Coosa River with her husband Gerry. After retiring, her grandchildren were her main focus. She enjoyed all their activities and sleepovers. She loved to dance and was a member of the Concordia Dance Club with Gerry. Barbara’s grandchildren called her “Mumzy” and they will miss her terribly. She was known for her positive attitude and great outlook on life. Barbara loved to laugh, act silly and have fun. There is so much more laughter in heaven now. We will all miss her so much.
