Anita Carlene Bradford, age 91, born in Chunky, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Anita was a loving, caring homemaker, mother, and wife. She was a devout Christian. Along with her husband, Paul Bradford Jr. back in 1988, Anita was a founding member of the McElwain Baptist Deaf Mission in Birmingham, Alabama. Anita being a deaf person, never let life dictate how she would live and raise 4 hearing children and manage her home. She loved to cook and bake goodies, and loved keeping her grandchildren when she could. She was highly respected in her neighborhood on Parkway Drive in Trussville. All of the community loved and supported her and Paul Jr.
Survivors include her children, Paul Bradford III (Linda), Beth Bradford Payne (Doyle), Chuck Bradford (Kristi), Ann Bradford Jerman; her Grandchildren, Justin Mizzell (Sara), Cory Bradford, Courtney Bradford Hicks (Jameson) Ian Jerman; sister-in-law, Gloria Forehand; and many other nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Paul Earl Bradford Jr.; and parents, Flossie Marie Hastings and Charles Beckham Hooper.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Bradford, Kerry Bradford, Ian Jerman, Doyle Payne, Justin Mizzell, and Cory Bradford.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, January 23rd from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church Trussville with funeral services to immediately follow at 10:30 AM. Officiating her service is her Pastor who started McElwain Baptist Deaf Mission, Stan Stepleton. Arrangements under the direction of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. Interment will conclude at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
