Allen N. Hide, Jr.

Allen Newman Hide, Jr., passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2025 in Birmingham, AL at the age of 97. Allen was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 23, 1927. Allen was a veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1946-1948. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1952 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked at US Steel until his retirement. Allen was a life-long Presbyterian. He was an active member of Avondale Presbyterian Church until its closure and then faithfully attended South Highland Presbyterian Church and was a devoted servant of God. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children, grandchildren and family pets. His was a great example of a life well-lived.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Peggy Taylor Hide. Allen is survived by his children David Hide (Beth) and Karen Buttler (John), and grandchildren Evan Hide, Taylor Hide (Samantha), Rebecca Buttler (Ben Leopard), and Matthew Buttler.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Cort Gatliff officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
